What Men Want in a Women?

what do guys want

There’s more to being the kind of woman that is adored by men than just being beautiful or sexy. Take it from me, as a typical meat-eating, football-watching guy: if you are great to look at but no fun to be around, we’ll dump you quick.

So what do men want in a woman? Rather than take it from me, just look at the movies. Here’s a list of films with leading ladies that are not only food for the eyes; these “hotties” also feed the brain and the heart.

Run Lola Run – Lola’s punky attitude belies a strong devotion to her accident-prone boyfriend Manni. In fact, she’s so in love that she’ll even mess with the rules of time itself to save his life. Plus, she has great green pants.
Star Wars – It’s not just the gold bikini or bun hairdo. Princess Leia is calm, cool, and collected in the worst of circumstances, and even her snarky side hides a real tenderness for her friends.
Erin Brockovich – Now here’s a woman who knows how to get what she wants, in this case its to save her town. Using only her gumption and a push-up bra, Erin twists every guy in town around her little finger. And they still love her after.
Die Another Day – it’s rare for a Bond girl to be her own woman and not a sniveling wimp, so Halle Barry’s tough and sexy Jinx is an exception in the series. When she walks out of the water in that bikini, it’s as much for her pleasure as James’.
Before Sunrise/Before Sunset – Julie Delpy playing the same character she always does: unbalanced, pouty, and arrogant, i.e. aggravatingly French. And yet, we can’t help falling for her just like Ethan Hawke… twice in nine years.
Alien/Aliens – Ripley’s got a guy’s name, she’s good with guns and mechanics, and she outfights not only yucky alien bugs but evil corporations. None of this makes her less desirable to the average guy, especially when the exterminator doesn’t answer your calls.
Lost in Translation – Sure, it’s Scarlett Johanssen, but what really drives our love for her Charlotte has more to do with her charm and wit than her looks. If any character has looked so wise at a young age, I have yet to see it.
Jackie Brown – Pam Grier is known best for her 70’s work, but in Tarantino’s almost-love story she comes into her own as a desperate woman who manages to be sexy while keeping everything under control. Guys don’t care how old she is now… we wouldn’t make the same mistake Robert Forrester does in the film.
The Last Seduction – Linda Fiorentino plays a class-A manipulator who screws over every guy in her path. We men hate her, of course, but at the same time we know we’d be putty in her hands too. Watch this when you have an axe to grind against an ex.

Notice anything? None of these women are the same. Don’t be average, show your little idiosyncrasies and quirks. Guys don’t want mealy-mouthed Barbie-dolls, no matter what the stereotype.
