Online dating site designed for casual daters rather than marriage minded singles. Although, this too may be possible. In fact, Date.com has confirmed 250 marriages among people who met on the site. Maybe not as often as on the eHarmony or Match.com dating site, but pretty impressive anyways.
Online since 1997, Date.com started out as a free personals site and then re-launched in 2000 as a subscription based service. In internet terms it makes them a dinosaur, but it sure doesn’t mean they don’t know what they’re doing. In fact, this dating service has as many features as any dating site out there.
Joining Date.com and posting a personalized profile is absolutely free. Setting up your profile is a multi-stage process. You start with your basic information, stuff like where you are (down to the city, which is helpful), what you look like (age, hair, eyes, height, weight, body type), and how you live (occupation, faith, whether you smoke, drink or have kids).
Then you’ll move on to describing the kind of person you’d like to meet, using pretty much the same kind of information. The options are pretty much unlimited here, so if you really want to meet that 6’6" tall redhead insurance salesgirl from Guyana here’s your chance.
Lastly there are some pretty quirky essays to further help describe yourself. 1) What traits do you find attractive? 2) Ask a question that someone can answer in their first letter to you. 3) If you could "do lunch" with anyone, who would it be, and why?
Searching at Date.com is similarly thorough, with options up the digital wazoo. You could just scope out "who’s online" or perform a basic search by age and location, or go hardcore and get super-picky with the advanced search feature.

If you want to get in touch with that cutie firefighter from Chicago, though, you’re limited to just "show interest" unless you fork up the dough. Becoming a "GOLD" member gives you a bazillion ways to get in touch, including regular email, instant messaging, chat rooms with live audio and video.
There's also a Free Tool Bar you can install that instantly alerts you whenever new mail or IMs arrive. Probably a big hit with those members that are actively pursuing a partner and want to stay connected to the service at all times.
Rates run from $29.95 for one month to $9.99 a month if you sign up for a year. With over two million active members, hanging around for a while might be a pretty good idea. $9.99 is what, less than two drinks at the bar? And the only person that’s going to step on your toes is the cat.
