It’s not the fanciest-looking of dating sites, but as you may have noticed by reading my other reviews, that’s just fine with me. Functionality is king. The Yahoo Personals dating home page is simple and direct to the point: you either have messages or not, and links to the various functions (e.g. search, mailbox, etc.) are listed right at the top.

Posting a member profile is quick and painless, and just fun enough to not be run o’ the mill. Most of us, for one message board/fantasy football league/blog or another are already Yahoo! members. Jump on, and start clicking away to describe yourself.

Many of the profile categories are typical, but there are a few ways to separate yourself from all the other Janes and Dicks. There’s “social setting”, “t.v. watching”, “living situation”, “political views” and even your astrological sign. You can even put “I’ll tell you later” into most categories to tease potential suitors to take that big step further.

Further on, there’s the usual paragraph section where you talk about yourself and your match, and it also asks you for the details about your desired match. It’s easy to make some categories more important than others, or as the site calls them, “must haves”.

When you get up to searching on Yahoo Personals, you can do so while sorting by every category in your own profile, including by distance from your location. You can also have “must haves” here. When the search results are listed, you can sort them based on several qualifications: distance, age, whether they’re online, activity on the site, and “overall fit”.

When looking at individual member’s profiles, it shows information about the type of person that member is looking for. It also shows all of their pictures, not only one as is the case on most other sites.

Found someone? Communication on Yahoo Personals dating site is easy. When you factor in that this dating site has one huge database of members, with someone for everyone , it’s a darned good deal.
